URA Talk To Students From The Faculty of Art and Sciences, Aga Khan University

Veera Rustomji and Seher Naveed of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) visited FAS on Thursday 15th May to talk about the Urban Repository Archive. The presentation was titled, Art, Archives and Urban Imagination and focused on:

1. The process of curating the archive.

2. IVS, pedagogies and the campus and their relation to Karachi

2. Students’ experiences of researching the city and its people through creative and traditional methodologies.

3. How this open-source archive can be of use to you in your future research

The presentation was followed by a Q&A session, during which students shared their thoughts and reflections on the research they were conducting as part of their coursework. Most of the students attending were from the northern regions of Pakistan and expressed interest in the visuals and narratives of Karachi—particularly in how these were represented by IVS students of their own age who have lived in the city for a longer time.
