Introducing the URA website to the students of the Department of Fine Art at the IVS Gallery:
At the near-end of the 2025 Spring Semester, the URA team held an orientation showcasing the website and its archived projects for the students of the Fine Art Department at IVS. Sample projects from each of the five navigating theme were discussed and through images of alumni’s work, the intentions for making the URA as a forum for research which connects the art school with the city were laid out. URA C0-Directors recalled their own work and time at the university when they were students and explained how the archiving of the website began and which types of methods, labelling and documentation were most helpful. As the student-audience members, were in the midst of their own research projects at the university, they were eager to see and learn how students who have graduated prior to them, used different ideas and materials in their work. The opportunity to talk about the URA also coinciding with the launch of the Summer 2025 URA internship. An open call for students to apply was advertised and students’ question about the applications were answered. The URA showed which type of projects the interns will work on, the scale of fieldwork involved in the internship and how students’ voices and reflections is one of the main incentives for the website to exist.
